Google Sheets & Google Drive Integration

Altera is a Shopify app that helps merchants import and export store data (e.g., products, variants, inventory, customers, and orders) for bulk edits, reporting, and migrations.

Export to Google Sheets & Google Drive

When you choose to export to Google in Altera, we connect to your Google account to create or update files in your Google Drive containing the data you selected. You can export directly to a Google Sheet or save files (such as CSV or Excel) to your Google Drive.

How the Google Export Works

In Altera, go to Settings → Remote Connections.
Create a new connection to Google Sheets or Google Drive.
Choose which Shopify data to export and select the fields to include.
In the remote export section, select the remote connection you created.
Export your data—Altera writes it directly to your Google Drive.

Why Altera Requests Google Access

We request Google access solely to perform the export you initiate—specifically to create and/or update files (Google Sheets or other formats) in your Google Drive. We do not request access for advertising, data brokerage, or unrelated purposes.

Google Permissions We Request (and Why)

spreadsheets — Needed to create and update Google Sheets content (rows/columns) for your export.
/drive.file — Needed to create files in your Google Drive and access only files you create with Altera or explicitly select.
openid, userinfo.email — Used to identify the connected Google account inside Altera (e.g., show which Google account is connected).

What we do NOT do

We do not scan or read unrelated files in your Google Drive.
We do not sell or share Google data with third parties for advertising or profiling.

How We Handle Google User Data

Access: Only when you trigger a Google Sheets or Google Drive export.
Storage: We store OAuth tokens (access/refresh tokens) only as needed to keep the integration working, and we store them securely (encrypted at rest).
Retention: Tokens are retained until you disconnect Google or they are revoked; export data is written to the destination file in your Google Drive.
Sharing: We do not sell Google user data. We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the user-facing feature you requested.

Disconnecting / Revoking Access

You can disconnect Google from within Altera at any time.
You can also revoke Altera’s access in your Google Account under Security → Third-party access.

Altera’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
