Updated Shopify order format for currencies and line edits

We’re updating the orders format so your order files stay compatible with other Shopify apps and tools. The biggest change is how the two currencies of an order are laid out.

An order paid in another currency has each amount twice, once in the customer’s currency and once in your store’s currency. Until now, the main amount columns, like Price: Total, held your store’s currency, and the customer’s currency was in separate Presentment columns, like Price: Presentment Total. Now the main amount columns hold the currency the customer paid, and your store’s amounts are in (Shop Currency) columns, like Price: Total (Shop Currency). The Currency column shows the customer’s currency, and a new Shop Currency column shows yours. If you sell in one currency, both columns are the same.

Your existing repeating orders exports keep the old column names and amounts, so the scripts and spreadsheets that read their files keep working. Exports that use a transformation written for the old layout also keep the old format. New exports and exports that you run once use the new format. • Order and shop currency - amount columns show the currency the customer paid, with a (Shop Currency) twin for each and a new Shop Currency column (see Shop currency amounts).
• Both currencies on import - imports now read both amounts, and an order in another currency needs both, so no exchange rate is guessed (see Shop Currency).
• Remove line items - set Line: Command to DELETE to take a line item off an existing order (see Editing line items).
• Change the customer - Customer: ID, Customer: Email, or Customer: Phone sets, switches, or removes the customer of an existing order (see Customer: ID).

• Amount columns - on orders paid in another currency, Price: Total, Line: Price, and the other amount columns now show the customer’s currency.
• Single-currency stores - if you sell in one currency, both currencies are the same and your exported amounts don’t change.
• Renamed columns - Presentment columns become the main amount columns and Transaction: Shop Currency Amount becomes Transaction: Amount (Shop Currency), but saved exports and transformations keep working.
