Shopify is moving shipping settings out of shipping profiles and into Markets. This update keeps product imports that use the Variant Shipping Profile column working on both kinds of store.
🔧 Improvements#
- Market-driven shipping – imports on stores that moved to market-driven shipping skip the column with a clear warning instead of calling an API that no longer applies.
- Profile name matching –
General Profilenow matches Shopify’sGeneral profile, and a profile ID matches its profile, so unchanged rows no longer trigger an update.
🐛 Fixes#
- Default profile round trips – re-importing an export with
General Profileno longer fails the product with “Default Profile product variant cannot be dissociated”. - Rejected profile changes – when Shopify refuses to move a variant, the row now imports with a warning instead of failing.
⚠️ Heads-up#
- Shipping profiles are going away – Shopify moves every store to market-driven shipping by July 2027; from then on, shipping rates apply to products by collection rather than by profile.
