You can now disconnect a product variant from a location the same way you would in Matrixify: import a file where the location’s inventory column is present but the cell is blank.
What’s New#
- Unstock by blank cell - a blank
Inventory Available: [Location]cell on an existing variant removes the variant from that location (see field reference). - Last-location protection - Shopify requires every variant to be stocked somewhere, so a row that would remove all of a variant’s locations is skipped with a clear error instead.
Good to know#
- Blank cells for locations a variant isn’t stocked at are ignored, so re-importing exported files stays safe.
- To leave a location’s inventory untouched, remove that column from your file instead of leaving cells blank.
- Shopify deactivates the location rather than deleting its inventory record, so the admin can still show the last on hand figure, and restocking the location restores the previous quantities.
Inventory Available Adjust: [Location]columns are unchanged: blank cells there are still ignored.
